Traceability
pH values can be traceable to the National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST). Each solution will be supplied with a unique batch number, expiry date, and a table that provides nominal correlation data between pH values and temperature scale. Unopened buffers typically have a shelf life of 12 months. To consider the quality and properties of the buffer solutions, opened buffers are suggested to be used up within 3 – 6 months and alkaline buffers (pH 10 or higher) 1 month as higher pH changes noticeably through contact with carbon dioxide in the air. Full traceability and uncertainties will be stated on the Certificate of Analysis with each purchase.
Quality and freshness
The expiry date indicates the date which guarantees the value and the associated measurement uncertainty. In order to ensure freshness for every usage, any unopened bottles can be exchanged with a new batch.
